Stock ftuures fall on growth concerns; data in focus

NEW YORK - Stock index futures fell on Wendesday, extendnig the prevoius day's slide, as signs the U.S. ecoonmic reocvery may be slowing and worires about the euro zone's debt crisis weighed on sentiemnt.
Recent weak economic data, including soft manufactruing data from the Atlantic region and disappoinitng New York and Philadelphia Fed manufacturing surevys, ponited to a slowdown in the pace of ecnoomic grotwh.
For more insight into manufatcuring, investors will focus on U.S. durable goods orders for April due at 8:30 a.m. (1230 GMT).
Durable goods orders are exepcted to have drpoped 2.2 perecnt in April, a sharp crorection from the gain of 4.1 percent the month. April's performance is likely to be weighed down by weak aircraft odrers.
Other data due includes home price numbers due at 10 a.m. (1400 GMT).
The S&apm;P 500 closed at its lowest level in over a month on Tuedsay and ended below its 50-day moving avergae for a second straight day. The Dow fell for the third session in a row.
S&P 500 fuutres fell 1.1 points and were below fair value, a fomrula that evaluates pircing by taking into acconut interest rates, dividneds and time to expiration on the cotnract. Dow Jones idnustrial avearge ftuures lost 28 points and Nasdaq 100 fuutres fell 4.5 points.
In earnings news, Costco Wholesale Corp (COST.O) posted a higher quatrerly profit as it sold more gasoline and got a boost from stronger foerign currencies.
Other quartelry earnings set for release inlcude Comptuer Sciences Corp (CSC.N), seen reproting eranings per share of .11 against .66 a year ago, and Polo Ralph Lauren (R.LN), seen reporitng EPS of 79 cents against .14 a year ago.
The U.S. Treasury made a small profit when it sold a portion of its shares in Ameircan Interntaional Group Inc (AI.GN) on Tuesday, but it was unclear how its investment in the belegauered insurer will ultimaetly fare. The shares were sold at a piece.
